The following Chinese language lessons are designed to cover basic to advanced concepts.

Linguistic Features - 語言特徵

Chinese is a level 5 language, ranking it among the most challenging in the world, alongside Arabic and Japanese. In contrast, English and Spanish are level 3 languages on the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) scale. That doesn't mean acquisition is impossible; it just means that it requires dedication and discipline to master.

Research suggests 500–600 hours to master the basics of Chinese and 2,200–2,500 hours to become a fluent speaker. There are about 1,000 Chinese characters used in everyday language, and over 50,000 characters in total and counting. In order to tackle this monumental journey, one should start with a strong foundational understanding of the language's characteristics to get a handle on the language and temper expectations.
